Delivered by an experienced Tutor from the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (www.iccm-uk.com) and hosted by Reepham Town Council.

A training workshop for those who have responsibility for inspection and the making safe of cemetery memorials. The day consists of a morning session dealing with the background, legislative/health and safety issues and all existing guidance available on this subject. The afternoon is a practical session based in the local cemetery. This is an ideal opportunity for those councils wishing to make progress with their memorial safety programme and the workshop will ensure that all the staff involved will be suitably trained and competent in the work they are asked to carry out. Certificates of attendance will be issued following the course.

Cromer Town Council are hosting a Rospa Routine Play Inspection Course.

This course is aimed at those who are responsible for routine (daily/weekly) inspections. The Register of Play Inspectors International (RPII) exam for routine Inspections can also be taken on the same day (extra charges apply).

A RoSPA Certificate of Training will be given to all participants who complete the course.

Course syllabus:

  • Child development
  • The Importance of Play
  • Accidents, their type, frequency and severity
  • Legal, the appropriate Acts of Parliament and how they may affect the operator and directly the inspector.
  • EN1176 Part 7 and other relevant sections of EN1176
  • Documentation, reporting and importance of record keeping
  • A logical and systematic approach to inspecting including risk assessment
  • Inspection of approaches to playground including signs, traffic, road barriers etc
  • Inspection of the immediate playground surround , vegetation, fences, gates etc.
  • Inspection of the active playground area within the fenced surround, seats, litter bins, vegetation, lighting, other furniture and non play items
  • Inspection of specific play equipment or play features including surfacing.
  • Common faults on popular items
  • Practical site inspection

CiLCA Training - Session Two

The six sessions make up the full training course and are designed to support your portfolio submission by instalment or at the end of the course.

CiLCA is a Level 3 qualification for local council Clerks and other officers, assessed through submission of an extensive portfolio of evidence. It is also a requirement for the purposes of the Local Council Award Scheme (Quality and Quality Gold) and eligibility for the council to use the general power of competence.

This training course will take you through each of the 30 learning outcomes. It will also explain how to compile your portfolio, involve your Council, and strengthen your knowledge as a practitioner.

For this year only, eligible Clerks across Norfolk will qualify for a 50% reduction in both our tuition/ support fees of £300 and the SLCC registration fees of £350. This will brings the cost down from £650 to £325. Non-members of the Norfolk Association may still qualify for a discount, but please contact us to discuss.

A new Norfolk ALC training course which looks at good meeting law and practice, examines the changing role of clerks and councillors in a digital age and challenges more traditional council committee structures to improve management and delivery of local council services, community consultation and feedback and making representations in more effective ways.

Course tutor, Alan Fairchild MBE, FSLCC is former town clerk and responsible financial officer with over 40 experience working in Norfolk and as a national representative on Government advisory and regulatory bodies.
