Serving the people of Norfolk

Jeremy Burton

Incoming County Officer

I am delighted to join Norfolk ALC at this exciting time and very much looking forward to starting in the role as County Officer on 1 October 2021 and working with clerks, councillors and councils in Norfolk

I have been the Town Clerk & RFO at Bungay Town Council for the last three years and prior to that Parish Clerk & RFO at Roydon Parish Council and also served for many years as a Town Councillor at Attleborough Town Council, of which three were as Chair/Mayor, so believe I have an all-round knowledge of the important role that Parish and Town Councils play in their communities. I have also served on the Suffolk ALC Board and been involved in various Clerk Forums and enjoy immensely working with Clerks and Councils. I have my CiLCA qualification and SLCC member.

Prior to becoming a Clerk, I was employed as an Area Manager for the Yorkshire Building Society, which was formerly the Norwich & Peterborough Building Society, and during this time worked at every branch in Norfolk so know the County well.

As a firm believer in Norfolk ALC'S motto 'Stronger Together', I am passionate about the work of Clerks and Councils and, the difference they can make as they are the closest tier of Local Government, to their residents and communities. Norfolk ALC currently has exciting plans to play an even greater role in helping and working with its membership and expanding its services.

Outside of work family time, I am a season ticket holder at Norwich City Football Club and enjoy going for long family walks with our Old English Sheepdog.
