Norfolk Clerks – are you looking for a new 2020 opportunity to develop both your skills and your fellow Clerk colleagues?

Norfolk Clerks – are you looking for a new 2020 opportunity to develop both your skills and your fellow Clerk colleagues?

We and our Clerk colleagues on the SLCC Norfolk Executive have a new Clerk Mentoring programme designed to provide mentoring and support to any Norfolk Clerk who contacts us. We have been recruiting experienced Clerks wishing to volunteer as a Mentor and have been delighted with the response. This is a final call for volunteers wishing to join this exciting programme on the inaugural Induction training day, 7 February in Norwich.

We are looking for volunteers with at least five years' local council experience, ideally CiLCA qualified and definitely a passion to share good practice with others in the sector.

So what does it involve?

Meeting new people & sharing your professional knowledge. Support three local Parish Clerks that would like to develop their knowledge and learning. Meet with these Clerks at least once, and then provide a regular contact by phone or email for a period of 12 months. Promote this mentoring programme and encourage networking by organising three informal Clerk "coffee meet-ups" in a local café or suitable space. A member of Norfolk ALC or SLCC Norfolk will support you at these meet-ups. We ask for about a half a day a month. That's 30 hours or more volunteering a year at times and places to suit you and your mentees. You may already be doing quite a bit towards this! You do need to be free to attend our Training day.

What's in it for you?

Induction training, on-going support and guidance from us, out-of-pocket expenses covered, CPD points and up to three free places on N-ALC training courses during 2020.

Contact, Sarah Thorpe, our programme co-ordinator, now to register your interest, and find out how to apply. Contact details 01945 430930 or clerksupport@norfolkalc.gov.uk

Clerks, would you benefit from some peer-group mentoring?

Perhaps you are a new clerk and would value a conversation with somebody who has more experience? Maybe you are an experienced Clerk embarking on a new and significant project? Perhaps you are feeling anxious or concerned about a working relationship with somebody? Whatever your reason for wanting to speak with one of our mentors, you can be assured that your conversations will be treated with respect and sensitivity. Contact us now if you would like to avail of this free service. You can contact Sarah (01945 430930), Gina (clerk@attleboroughtc.org.uk), Gabbie (07539 909636) or Russell (01603 638495).
