Freedom of Information essentials for Clerks and Councillors with Philip Brown

This is an on-line course to learn about the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 how they impact local councils. It is aimed primarily at parish and town clerks but councillors, especially those on their data protection committees where they exist, will also benefit. By the end of the course, attendees will understand the principles of the FOIA/EIR, the different types of information covered, how to determine the validity of any requests, how to respond and in what time frame and whether exemptions may be applied, among other things.

This is an on-line non-technical look at the General Data Protection Regulation. It is aimed primarily at parish and town councillors, especially those on their data protection committees where they exist. By the end of the course, attendees will understand the principles of data protection, the lawful bases with which to process personal data, how to react to Subject Access Requests and data breaches among other things.
