Freedom of Information - do you know how to deal with a request?
Learn about the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 how they impact local councils. This course is suitable for clerks and councillors, especially those on their data protection committees or similar committees. By the end of the course, attendees will understand the principles of the FOIA/EIR, the different types of information covered, how to determine the validity of any requests, how to respond and in what time frame and whether exemptions may be applied, among other things.
Phil Brown is our Tutor for this course, he is an experienced practitioner in managing information and data protection. Phil also has extensive experience of the local council sector as a previous councillor and in supporting councils with Data Protection advice and consultant services.
