What is CIL?
CIL is a charge on development that came into force in 2010 (and runs in tandem with s.106 contributions). The purpose of the CIL is to fund infrastructure to support local development.

The Government has announced a consultation on technical changes to the Community Infrastructure Levy. These changes aim to reduce its complexity and increase its market responsiveness and transparency. While the proposed reforms do not affect how town and parish councils receive and use their share of any CIL funds, it is nevertheless of interest to US.
