Power To Fund Works To Property Relating To Affairs Of The Church Or Held For An Ecclesiastical Chairty

National ALC has issued Legal briefing L02-23 to take into account the Government’s amendment to the Local Government Act 1894 in the form of a new section 19A (as inserted by section 82 of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023), which came into force on 26 December. Meaning councils are not prohibited from using powers, other than in the 1894 Act, for spending money on works to property relating to affairs of the church or held for an ecclesiastical charity.
