Community Governance explores how individuals and organisations collaborate and make decisions for the betterment of their local community. This advanced qualification is awarded by De Montfort University (DMU), a prestigious institution awarded Gold under the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The qualifications offers:
- A Certificate of Higher Education (Level 4)
- Foundation Degree (Level 5)
- Honours Degree (Level 6)
- MA in Public Leadership (Level 7)
The distance learning program commences in February 2026. The below overview document for councillors also outlines how this qualification can benefit the council.
Financial support may be available to assist students and their councils with bursaries offered through both the Welsh Government Training Bursary Scheme and the SLCC Educational Trust Community Governance Bursary Scheme. More details for these can be found on our website.
The Community Governance Courses are ran by SLCC, further details can be found on their website. Norfolk ALC do not have any involvement with these courses and all bookings should be made directly with SLCC.
